Nestled about 5 miles west of the Hudson RIver, in the rustic town of Clintondale, New York, is the Family owned restaurant known as Primo's. Primo's has been in business over 60 years, we knew there had to be something good going on here. After months of puting it off (due to the distance from us) we finally loaded up the car, headed north, and crossed the river. Primo's had been known for their freshly made classic pizza pies and their many other extensive menu items. From wings and burgers, to mouth watering steaks, it seems they had it all. This night would be extra special, we were joined by our friend, chef, and fellow food lover, All Smoked Up BBQ & Catering's, Rob VanVorrhis along side his wife. It was going to be a great night. We finally arrived and presented with the overwhelming list of wing flavors, time to get our wing on...
Over 20 flavors to choose from, wow, that's what we like to see. The first sign of a place that is serious about their wings is the flavor list. Many interesting choices here from a regular mild sauce, to their Hell sauce, a dry rub called Alabama BBQ, and many more unique choices. Primo's opened up their kitchen to us, were we observed their cook, creating some of our sauces over the oven. The first flavor we tried was the traditional buffalo hot. It had a great taste to it, the heat was there however I would have enjoyed a little more spice, it was an excellent flavor. The Alabama BBQ is a dry rub of delicious spices. It was covering a perfectly cooked, extra crispy wing. Nick, a member of our Wing Crew, went for the Honey Mustard wings. It worked way better then I expected, it was sweet and savory, a unique honey mustard flavor. The star of the night was the Parmesan Garlic. These wings were a work of art. the chicken was covered in a garlicky butter sauce, and then matted with a layer of parmesan cheese and fresh garlic. All of the orders came with a cup of blue cheese, and a nice portion of celery. The blue cheese was your standard blue cheese dip. We were all extremely happy with our wings. They were all cooked perfectly, and heavily sauced. The size of the wing was the average wing size, not small by any means, very meaty.
It was a hectic night at Primo's. Seemed to be dart league night. The service was good and the people working here were very friendly and made us feel right at home. Rob brought his camera out tonight and took some beautiful photo's for us to use, they came out great. Everything was great tonight. If you're in the area check out Primo's Bar & Grill. I'm giving Primo's an 8 out of 10.
A Word from Craig: Its unique to see an extensive flavor selection but primos knows how to do it well . The flavor choices are great and by ordering a flavor in intervals of 6 you really get to experience what they have to offer . Crispy wings cooked and sauced (or seasoned) just right is what we like to see and primos pays attention to the quality they are putting out for there customer.
Verdict: 8 out of 10
